Hello,
My mf40 stopped going into reverse, forward still works fine. There wasn't any event that occurred, it was getting hesitant to go into reverse when it got warmer and soon after stopped engaging at all. I changed the fluid, cooler filter, and cleaned the sump filter (it had some metal pieces in it). I went through the troubleshooting on the pump pressure valves and they are now in spec. The pressure drops when either directional pedal is engaged, and returns to previous pressure, so I don't think it is the linkages. The gear viewed from the hydraulic fill port(not sure which one it is) turns at all times if the 3pt is not engaged and the tractor is in gear. If the 3pt is up the gear doesn't turn unless the tractor is moving.
Do you think it could be the pump, pump spool, or is it likely the clutch? Other ideas? Any help on troubleshooting this before/ splitting is appreciated.
Thank you,
Jared
