tractor plow re little Genius USA and #8 C Canadian

Just reading old posts re cleaning up rusted plows.

Just purchased an 8C from a friend who's husband and she worked the land in earlier years. It has sat for ever so long. I now need to disassemble the and remove the oxidation on all parts.
I was reading a post from about 1980 about using "" feed grade molasses and water in a soaking bath"" to remove oxidation.
Has any one read and used this method lately?? I had never heard of this method.

Secondly I will be wanting to find a set of small colters Like were on my father's plow " I think they were called Lance colters.

This is my next equipment project so I will have time to research.

I soaked rusted rims in a 45 gal drum with molasses and water for about 3 weeks, they came out clean but rust real quick after hitting air , so need to wash them off and prime right away, mixture was about 10-1

This is very a interesting concept since I have time to start disassembling, shortly: after taking some pictures. I will have to find a tank large enough to hold the parts piece by piece if necessary.
I like what I read about the molasses since I can probably purchase it from a local feed mill.
Thank you for the confirmation and the formula; will keep the up dates coming as the project progresses. ONE question, how does temperature / particular cold winter temperatures affect the process [probably slow it down] but other than that??
Thank you for your assistance, am excited to try this option.

This is interesting since I spent 20 years in Huron County and now reside near Thamesford so I guess I will need to start this poject in the spring to utilize the molasses technique. Hope you have had a wonderful Thanks Giving.
