using running in oil after overhaul of engine

I have heard different reports of using running in oil in engine after overhaul,I remember 40 years ago when I worked at IH dealer the engine oil in new tractors had to be changed at 25 hours
so I am expecting conflicting replies

I run good brand name oil and change it at 10 hr,75 hr, and after that I go with the manufactures recommendations.

On gas engines we use straight 30 wt non detergent oil. Diesels we use 15w-45 and pour the LUCAS break-in additive to both of them. Run them 25 to 30 hours, change oil and filters and put in whatever you like. We never have a problem.

Break-in oil is formulated with higher levels of Zinc and phosphorus to protect flat tappets, cams and other high wear items from wear during engine break-in. After everything is seated, oil is changed.
