2240 steering problem

I have a JD 2240 made in 1979. Awhile back I removed the steering column and had it rebuilt. They screwed it up. I took it to another guy and he got it put back together and working. Some time later I noticed that when you turn the steering wheel, the front tires turned at different angles, one tire would be turned more than the other. With the steering wheel centered so that the tires are both pointed straight , as you turn the wheel, they go out of alignment a pretty good bit.
How do I correct this problem ?
Could anyone give me the sequence to hook everything up so that it will steer correctly ?

For the tractor to turn properly, the inside wheel should turn in farther than the
outside wheel, since it is turning on a smaller radius. If your wheels are turning
unequally beyond what is normal, then the steering geometry has been affected, and
someone smarter than me should be able to help. Ben

I don't know how that could be. If it's like a 1020 and 2020,there's just a single steering arm that goes to a triangle shaped piece underneath the front end. The tie rods hook to the other two points on that. It would have nothing to do with the steering column/gear box.

Here's a thought. The arm that hooks to the gear box is on a splined shaft if memory serves me right. Did you get it back on the wrong position on the splines?

One wheel will turn almost normal angle, the other will turn so much it plows up a trench. I just can't see what the problem is. I'm beginning to feel stupid. Has to be an answer.

If that's one spline off,it will push things around too far and the geometry will change because of it. If you try just turning it until the wheels are the same angle in the short direction as it is in the direction that goes too far, will the angle be correct? I'm picturing it going off kilter once you get beyond the point where it should stop.

No. They began going off shortly after I start turning the wheel. It must be something simple, but I am missing it. One of the wheels goes way too far. I am going to pull it apart this weekend and try to figure it out. I am looking for another 2240 close by that I can look at , but so far no luck.

Jack the front up and turn it slowly lock to lock and keep checking the drag link ends as you turn it.

I began fooling with it again today. My fuel tank is being welded on , and the tractor is just sitting in my shop. I have managed to get it much
closer by a combination of screwing the adjustments in and out coming off the triangle shaped piece under the front end and moving the notched shafts
that goes to the wheels in and out. Might get it right by trial and error. Centash made me aware that they won't turn evenly. That made sense , but
I hadn't thought of it. I am going to need to get the fuel tank back in it and drive it as I adjust the turning radius.
Thanks for all the help.
