Hydraulic O rings????

Started a thread a few days ago, that got no responses. Went over like a turd in a punch bowl. I've diagnosed my own problem as bad O rings. They sometimes don't last a day. Where could somebody get some super high quality O rings?

What are you putting them in?

As far as getting quality orings, it is more a question of getting the correct orings.

There are different materials, different durometers.

The size is very critical. There are online engineering charts for sizing orings, there is a different clearance for static and dynamic applications.

Once you determine the size, they can be bought at bearing supply houses, McMaster Carr, many different places.

Something that may be helpful would be to take the disassembled cylinder, or whatever you are repairing, to a hydraulic shop, show them what you are doing, explain the problem. They should be able to get the correct rings, back up rings, whatever you need to get a permanent repair.
 

I bought an assortment set from a local high quality hydraulic shop. I could have got it for way less on line but I believe that the seller makes a difference on this.

They are going on a 451 MF. The couplings are easy enough to remove obviously, we don't have a "hydraulic" place here. Few years ago, there was a guy worked out of service truck, but no store front. He was good. I guess I relied on him too much.
 
Looking at the 451 parts catalog on the AGCO website, no O-ings are shown, just a complete female coupler body, which seems strange.

I have NO idea what's officially supposed to be in there, but often a teflon or other hard plastic "backup ring" is used on the atmospheric side of O-rings in such applications, .

Is it possible there's supposed to be backup rings in your couplers and they are missing?

Wonder if that's how your Massive Ferguson us supposed to be?
