I have read several posts about checking control rod for MP. I removed linkage and rod has come up out of position or at least it is not going back down as it should. Any help????

That rod should move about 3/8-1/2 inch travel, down moves the spool valve to high, up moves the valve to low. Later tractors had a spool ball for a positive detent on the spool early tractors did not use. If the spool valve never moves there's a chance the bellcrank shoulder bolt may be broken, had that happen on a 65 once..

Thanks for information. The rod moved up and down approx 1/4 to 3/8 inch before i messed with it. Now i have removed linkage/acuator bar and rod is sticking up approx 1 inch and feels like something not rifht. It wont go back down. I jave never had one of these apart so i cant see in my mind whats goung on in there.
