Two weeks ago, I purchased an old Deutz 6806 tractor. When I went to look at it, the power steering was hard to turn, but in a few minutes, turned with ease. Since it was only a few miles from home, I decided to drive it home rather than have it towed. On the way home, the power steering became less and less responsive to the point I finally had no steering at all. Called a tow truck and had it towed home. When I arrived home, I check the fluid levels and discovered the transmission fluid was low, (the steering system runs off the transmission fluid). I filled it and tried working the steering wheel, still no response. I added more fluid to the point it was slightly over full, ran the tractor, still no response. Do I need to bleed the system and if so, how do I do it. Secondly, is there a filter that might be clogged and in need of cleaning, if so, where is it located and how do I clean it? Any other ideas on why the steering system isn't working. Again, it is a Deutz 6806 that I'm guessing was made in the mid to late 1970's. Thanks in advance for any and all help and guidance. Glenn
