Carb for Farmall

Need advice.

I have a Farmall Super M 1953. The carburetor is filling up with fuel and flooding out the engine. I have rebuilt this carb twice now. It still pours fuel out. What am I missing? I am at a loss!

It is flooding so bad it is running out the throttle body and flex pipe that goes to the air cleaner.

Will a Farmall M carb work on a Farmall Super M? I have a Farmall M that I could pull the carb off and put on the Super M if it would work? I have this tractor sold I think but I am not going to sell it until it works right. I am not going to sell something that is half done or doesn't work. I wouldn't want that done to me.

Bad float will cause that as will not getting the brass needle seat tight enough to leaving out the gasket that goes under the seat. Of a crack carb in the area of the needle seat. Or the float being bent in such a way it hits the float bowl sides and cannot move as it need to to shut off the gas. When you rebuild a carb you should be able to turn it right side up then upside down and hear the float move.

How is the tank? If it's flaking rust it can find it's way to the needle valve and hold it open.

Be sure the screen is in the sediment bowl. I like to open the fuel valve and let the line flush before connecting to the carb. It doesn't take much to make one flood.

If you open the carb up, check the float for fuel inside. Give it a shake and feel for fuel sloshing inside the float. Or float it in some gas, be sure both pontoons float equally.

Before putting the bowl on, set the float level with the top upside down, gravity force on the float, it should sit level, parallel to the top gasket, or set to spec if you have it. While it's upside down, suck on the fuel fitting (sounds gross, but not fatal), put your tongue over the hole. It should hold vacuum. If not, there is still a problem.

Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.

1. I checked the float and they are fine.
2. I can hear the float working by turning it upside down and right side up. I can hear
the float go up and down in the carb.
3. I sucked on the fuel fitting and held for vacuum. It has vacuum on it.

I put it all back together and the thing still is pouring out gas. I am at a loss.
I put a new fuel bowl on it and fresh gas in the tank.

Could I have a hair line crack somewhere I don't see that is causing it to not work properly.

Thanks

1) shake the float to see if you hear anything in it.2)Take the bottom off the carb and reinstall the top part back on the tractor, lift the float up and down to see if the gas
is cutting off,if its not its the needle valve,if it is cutting off its the float.

Did you put in a new float needle and seat?? If you did is it a rubber tipped needle?? Does it have the little spring clip also?? If it has the clip did you install it correctly?? Also those rubber tipped needle will leak till a set has been put i nthem which is done either by time of running to by opening up the carb and drop the needle in the seat and tap on it a few times till you can look and see a ring in the rubber which is what is call a set. Or you have the float set wrong or it is hanging part of the way open when it should be holding the float needle closed

Old, it is a rubber needle point type. There was no spring in the packaging of the carb rebuild kit.

I am at a loss.

Those rubber tipped float needles are known to leak unless you put a set in them like I said. Or you can live with it as is till it puts a set in it by using the tractor

(quoted from post at 17:27:39 06/27/17) sounds like the float is bent and rubbing the sides of carb or set to high they don't have mutch room in there to fit

Yes! The float arm is bent and the float is contacting the sides of the fuel bowl. It is a common problem on those carburetors.
