How to Clean a Hydraulic Screen ??

Finally found the filter screen on my MF 205 diesel, and check it out!!! Plugged up majorly!! Do you guys have any recommendations on cleaning it? I ended up scraping off the buildup with a razor blade carefully but it is still majorly plugged.

Pictures are of it as it was removed.

I use the edge of a square cross section screwdriver. It will pull the stuff off without digging into the wire.

Yeah, the razor blade did a good job getting the bulk and then I used some brake parts cleaner and a blow nozzle on the air hose. Most of it is caked on there thick and dry. How can I get it perfectly clean again.......meaning all tiny holes cleaned out? I'm about to call and price a new one just to see.

Would soaking it in berrymans carb dip work?? It is NLA from the Massey dealer new.

I have cleaned hyd filters in a MF85 in gas and then sprayed it real good with carb cleaner spray and then blew it out with compressed air and that did a real good job

Sometimes what you are trying to remove is not oil based so solvent can not remove it.
Plain old soap and water might be worth a try.

Get an old CrockPot (thrift store) and fill it with Purple Power or Greased Lightning ( or similar) Let the screen cook over night. Wash with water. A poor man's hot tank.

I haven't cleaned mine since I bought the tractor in 1987. It cleaned up fine with some paint thinner and a tooth brush followed by compressed air.
