Hi guys I'm new here. I rebuilt the shuttle tranny, new synchro, gears input gear etc etc...I noticed on the forks on that they were brazed and had material added to them, when I tried to fit them in synchro they were too wide, I took some braze off, fits great. Now someone did work to this before. So now the tractor only goes in reverse, I'm gonna pull the cover off again tomorrow and see what's happening, What should I be looking for or how to remedy the situation. I'm figuring the synchro isn't fully engaging the input gear, is there an adjustment? Or common problem I should be looking for? Thanks a bunch

There is oil in tranny, I'm finding that the synchro won't engage the forward gear with the lever and cover in place. If I grab the synchro by hand and put it in forward gear with the cover off, it slides right on there no problem, but when I set up how to put cover on and forks in..she no go in forward, neutral is reverse, and reverse is also reverse.. stumped.

The problem was the new aftermarket gear. It's was the gear on the tail end of aft end beside synchro, the reverse gear in shuttle. Where I figured out the brass synchro gears were binding on the gear, I pulled the tranny apart and started comparing gears, the old gear was still good, not perfect but fine, I measured the degree of taper and the width of the taper. The width on the new gear was in fact .150 thousandths skinnier, the taper was also off by a bit Which caused the brass synchro gears to bind on the gear, it was enough to lock the tranny. I put the old gear back in and new brass synchros from case. I reassembled the whole machine and it works perfectly.

The initial problem was that the input forward gear in the shuttle was rounded off, as well as the synchro rounded off.

Just a heads up for people out there buying aftermarket gears. Make sure you measure out the crucial surfaces in comparison to original parts. Better yet get a good used one or new through dealer.

Take care.
