Hi, I just purchased a 706 gas this past weekend.
I've been doing some work on it but the only
problem ramainin is that when I pick on the clutch it
sometimes wants to keep pulling. It doesn't
immediately stop the drive like it should so
sometimes when I'm in reverse it will keep on going
when I try to stop and I have to push the brakes with
all i got to stop it. But then once it's stopped it's
stopped. It does this especially bad in low. Any
advice? I have no idea what would cause this. I'm
hoping it just needs worked in.

If the tractor has been out of service for a while, it may free up with some use. But then it may not...

I'm assuming the pedal free travel has been adjusted.

As others have said, it could be rust, or the plate sticking on the spline. Other possibilities are a failing pilot bushing, oil or grease making the disc sticky, holding it to the pp or flywheel.

Another possibility, (which I've heard of but never actually experienced), when a disc is worn flat, beyond the grooves that are cut in the friction material, sometimes there will be a vacuum between the disc and the pp or flywheel that will intermittently cause the clutch to not release.

End result, if it doesn't free up, and the freeplay is properly adjusted, it will be time for a new clutch assembly.

It also has this weird clunking sound sometimes when I push the clutch. If it's in low or going kinda fast. Sometimes I'll push the clutch and it'll slow way down and just when it's about to stop these loud clunks come from somewhere inside the clutch/transmission area. There can be anywhere from 1 to 2-4.

The clunking at slow down could be something broken in the disc hub. Possibly a loose spring in the shock hub, the hub itself, or ???

Could also be the pilot bearing.
