Ford 861D proofmeter issues

I think whatever drives the prootmeter on my Ford
861D is not working. The cable seems to be good
but when I put into the bottom of my hyd pump it is
not spinning and I know the cable is not broken. Is
that a pain to fix?

No it isn't. Mine just needed the capscrew but you may need the drive. That is assuming the cable end isn't rounded off.

Can I do this without taking the pump off of the tractor? What shape is the end of the cable suppose to be Square? Thanks for information.

Yes and yes. It's been a few years since I fixed mine but if my memory is correct all you have to do is remove the cable. Then unscrew that big nut it attaches to. The short drive is inside it. Can't remember if it is a slot or a tang but there is a 1/4 fine thread bolt on the other side where it mates. Hopefully you won't have to go deeper.

Well, I took the drive out and I do not think the bolt that screws into the wobble shaft is spinning, which I know that is not good. So, unless the screw is broke off I don't think I will tear my Hyd. pump apart to get the tach going. The screw was loos when I put a screwdriver on it so I tightened it.

Looking at the parts book that cap screw just go's in to the end of the wobble shaft where the gear is so if the pump is working that cap screw should turn if it isn't stripped out. Mine was stripped from running loose but the shaft threads were good so a new bolt cured it. Seems like that special bolt is about $25.

Does anyone recall how the end of the proofmeter cable looks at the hydraulic pump. My drive is turning but it is not catching my cable. The cable does not look broke on the end but the drive adapter just spins around it.. It has a little notch on it but it does not catch in the slot on the drive adapter. Thanks

I'm working on an 861-D I inherited. Can you send me a picture of the injector pump and lines to the injectors?
Someone removed the lines and I have no idea which pump discharge port goes to which injector.
