I have an electronic ignition I am going to have put on my tractor and I have someone who should be able to rebuild my carburetor fairly cheaply, but he was concerned that some of the parts might be so old that they might be hard to get apart with out breaking. So I thought maybe I might just replace it. I see some for sale for only around $150. It runs OK, but is sometimes hard to start and sometimes floods. I am hoping it might run better and could use a little more horse power since I often run a old circle sawmill with it. so I am interested in an upgrade if there is such a thing. I see (Part No: 312954) for $170 says that it fits 641 tractors after 1958, but I think my tractor is a 1957. I see that (Part No: 13878)a Zenith for $287 says it fits 641 and says it outperforms the original, but it does not list any particular years. I emailed Yesterdays tractors twice about what carburetor would work, but did not get an answer. Does anyone have any advice about rebuild, verses replace verses upgrade or forget about it. and if upgrade or replace with what?
Thanks
