i plan to turn kitchen sink into fuel tank

I am going to restore my 9n or is it 8n{I have posted question in 9n heading} and the fuel tank is rusty and I know I can get new tank but the tractor will not be used very often and I have come up with the idea of using a stainless steel kitchen sink as it will never corrode , I know it will need quite a lot of modifying and it will have smaller capacity but that won't matter at all,i welcome all comments good or bad

Anything is possible with enough time and determination.

But you have to consider your time is worth something!

I could see doing something like that if a replacement tank was not available. But for an N Ford, there are easier options, do some shopping first!

BTW, I am a co owner in a TO35 Ferguson. Many years ago the tank rusted out. Didn't have much tractor knowledge or any internet access. We had a friend in the sheet metal business, he fabbed a stainless tank for us, free. It was nothing but trouble...

Didn't fit just right, difficult to fill, started stress cracking along the seams and welds. Finally ended up replacing it with an aftermarket tank. Lesson learned!

Try looking into a lawnmower wrecking yard.
Plenty of five gallon plastic tanks in different configurations.
A nice one is the five gallon tank from a broken down generator.
Or maybe a five gallon jerry gas can if you can still find one.

It would be an interesting project. My shop made one for a 860 Ford out of 14 gas sheet but only held about 10 gallons. I tried to talk him out of it but he insisted. I had a few really good welders but I would not try to do a fuel tank myself I would think an outboard boat tank would work and I bought one at a flea market for $8.00

During WW2 we had a neighbor who made a kitchen sink out of a Model A ford gas tank. Few people in our community had a sink.

How come I'm getting a vision of Winston Rothschild starting his sewage and septic sucking business by putting a kids swimming pool in the back of a 59 Ford station wagon? LOL

Weren't you the guy that asked about marrying some much younger gal? Pardon me if I got that wrong.

Six gallon outboard motor fuel tanks are available almost everywhere. The tanks hold their value so one could be sold when you are done with it.

and our honeymoon will be spent in Canada with relations and I hope there will be a vintage tractor show we can attend
