My tractor was running great when it died. My rotor button broke into 5 pieces. Well went and got Aa new one. I checked to ensure that the shaft had no play which it doesn't. Well put it and now have no spark to the plug wires. The timing is right l, points are good, pointso gap is good, everything is new and I double checked it. Please help!

My guess would be that the contacts in the distributor cap are not contacting the end of the rotor. You might possibly have gotten a chinese rotor.

Is there any problem with the distributor cap? Carbon center there?

Something must have caused the old one to break. Possible the new one broke as soon as the engine turned?

Try to carefully compare the pieces of the old one to the new, could be the wrong rotor.

It's a new cap. And its the the exact same as the old one. The tractor was running perfectn in was scraping a driveway and it just cut off like you turned the key.

TSC equals China junk parts. Go to O'Reilly's or NAPA and buy a new cap rotor and points. Good chance when the rotor broke it also cracked the cap and may have also damaged the points. Or if the points are from TSC well again China junk. A 1950 8N can be either a front mount distributor so points set at 0.015 or a side mount 5 nipple cap and points are set to 0.025

Haha your right they came from tsc as well. I will just go to napa and get a kit and give that a wirl. It is a front mount sorry I forgot to add that.

Go to NAPA and get good quality individual parts, If they have the kit with everything in it, don't get that, get the individual parts.

I got a Borg Warner cap at O'Reilly's one time and the contacts were cut out of round and damaged the rotor. Check to make sure the coil contact (little pig tail looking thing on the coil) is contacting the screw in the distributor when you mount it and make sure the post the screw is mounted to isn't grounded. It can happen with little warning.
