4010 pressure control valve

I recently got my 4010 running after having starting problems for about one year,replaced starter, generator,ignition switch plus all wiring for lights etc. tractor fired right off, it ran for about ten minutes, then a loud bang, hydraulic oil pouring out from dash cowl, blew my pressure control valve in half. never had hydraulic problem before the starting problems, and never touched anything to do with hydraulics. bought a used valve on ebay with same numbers. I made sure valve was in good shape, backed off pressure at pump, started tractor, ran great, then started to sound like it was coming under load, reached to turn tractor off, but blew pressure valve again before I could get it shut down. I found another valve,but don't want to install it until I find out why it is building to much pressure. Any suggestions on where to start the hunt.
 
What you are calling a "pressure control valve" is actually a "priority valve" for the power steering and brakes.

It has no way of actually controlling the pressure put out by the main hydraulic pump up front.

I don't think this is a typical/common issue but apparently the pressure control valve in the main radial piston hydraulic pump up front is stuck. Might have debris jammed in it or simply rusted stuck while the tractor was on vacay.
 
I am certain the problem is in the front pump, the stroke control valve is most likely stuck, Tim s would know for certain what to do.
 
thanks for the replies,actually is the priority valve, unfortunatly, this is now a moot problem, put a 5000psi pressure gauge on line to priority valve , started tractor, and within 3 seconds blew up my pump. Anyone want a 4000$ tractor for 7500$, I would only be taking about a 2500$ hit. I will get a new pump and hope that cures it. If not, everyone is invited to a weiner roast 4 of July
