bolt torque

what is the correct bolt torque for the bolts attaching trans to engine on a 8n Ford tractor. Also torque for the 4 steering box bolts. Did a front end split and can't find torque info in fo-4 manual.

Typically, when a torque is not specified, it means that is not a critical application, just be sure it is tight within reason.

Here is a chart if you feel it needs to be torqued, or just to give you a general idea what is expected for that particular fastener.

Fastener torque is critical to achieving proper clamping forces. Too much and breakage or stripping occurs. Too little torque and equipment leaks, wallows out or falls apart.
In care of doubt on unmarked fasteners, torque to Grade 2 specs.
Vital components should have new fasteners instead of re-using old fasteners. Who knows if some Bubba in the past has stretched that fastener.
