I am trying to convert my 1965 ford 5000 to a spin on filter.

the plate does not seem to fit, do i need to take the bolt off the engine, where the old post for the cartridge filter screwed in? It does not look like it comes off?

any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Brayw- Yes, you need to remove that bolt too. It took me using a
"cheater" to remove the bolt. It's really torqued in there.

Also, you need to modify a socket to install the new bolt/adapter
plate. I'll find the directions and post back.

This is from.....George by Geneva, NY-

"Just like the Y blocks and 6's from 54 up with either style filter.
Have to take that nut off when block gets hot tanked. There is a
gasket behind it. I still have a 1 1/4 in socket to do that job. It is
ground around the edges until the points are flush with the edge.
Other wise you will round the nut and then the fun starts. 6 point
socket is best but must be ground too. Use care to get gasket seated,
RTV on one side and let it set a bit before assy. Do not let the plate
spin as nut tightens as there is a up orientation to it."

I cant seem to find a socket big enough where could i order one? and what size would it be? also how would i modify it?

Brayw- "I cant seem to find a socket big enough where could i order
one?"....I ordered mine from Amazon.

"what size would it be?"....1 1/4 inch socket , 6-point.

"also how would i modify it?".....Grind it down with a grinder.
