Well....here we go again. My 1978 995
is losing oil pressure again. After
about an hour of running it gets close
to 3psi oil pressure with the engine
temp around 200.
Possible rod bearing slip?
I checked oil pump with diesel, seems
to be pumping fine.
But seems that as the engine
temperature climbs the oil pressure
drops dramatically.

What RPM are you taking the pressure reading at?

And what oil are you using?

As a general rule, 10 PSI per 1000 RPM is sufficient.

Do you know where the pressure relief valve is? Possibly something is holding it from closing fully. However, shimming, stretching, or instaling a longer spring will not increase idle oil pressure.
