Jdeere 8w sickle mower.

Can anyone tell me how to fix a bad oil leak on a jdeere 8w sickle mower. The leak is between the pitman arm wheel and the main gear box. I can't seem to even get it apart. Just bought it. I checked the oil and it was low so I added but it comes right out. Must be a seal inside. Thanks for your help. Bob

Below is a link to the parts catalog, look at .pdf Pages 13 and 14.

The flywheel needs to be pulled off with a gear puller to service the seal. Seal design and flywheel change at serial #50,001, so you'll need the serial number to get the correct seal. IIRC, the older design was a special taper roller bearing with the seal molded to it, later design is a typical oil seal.
