Engine is a 366 w/Holley carb. Just below the carb there is a void into exhaust crossover of the intake manifold. The truck has 8,050 miles; used to be a Vol. Fire Co tanker. Just got the engine to run and exhaust blows out the intake crossover. Hole is about 1/4" x 3/8". Repair options I have considered are furnace cement and welding. Any advice? I have a wire feed and stick welder; I have welded alot of mild steel; but not much experience with cast and no successful experience with cast!!

Truck has 5 spd manual transmission and a governor on the carb! Boiled the gas tank; carb kit, new oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets. Brakes are vac over hydraulic with the booster under the cab/drivers seat. Only has the 20 gal tank behind the drivers seat; will need a saddle tank!. I have advised the owner to search for a 2 sp rear end.

Well first off the engine will be a 361HD part of the FE family . You did not say if it was a rust hole , a break or what kind of hole . Welding it on the truck is NOT a good idea as you could have some weld BEE BEE's fall down and end up where you do not want them Now it has been a lo0ng time since i worked on them like back in 1970 so i can not remember what intake is on that engine , it could be a low rise or a med or high rise and finding a good used one may take a bit of looking but they are out there . Myself i would go on the hunt for a replacement . Go by the casting # on the manifold .

Exhaust gases come out.

Ernied,I would try some VersaChem Exhaust Repair on the manifold for a temporary repair. Then search for a replacement manifold,If I remember the 330,361 and 391 are all in the same family and should fit.
