oil filter spring

I was watching a video about changing fluids on ford tractors. It showed a spring
inside the oil filter next to the engine. I am in the process of changing fluids and oil
filter. My oil filter does not have a spring. Can the spring be elimlated as it has been
or if any one knows the size I would prefer to replace it. It may be necessary for
proper oil flow. Also does the oil pan and side cover have any torque requirements
for the bolts? Any information will be appreciated and I need it soon. I hope
someone will be familiar with the cannister type oil filter before the spin on filter.
THANKS!!

There was a spring and a washer in the one I worked on . I'd just replace with a spin on adapter from the YT store...

Neither of course have I. BUUUUUUT, how sure are we that the new user knows the difference between the two types, just because he is aware that there are to different types? And are we absolutely sure that we know which one he has, just because he is aware of there being two types? Best not to assume. We know what assume can do. Best not to be a troll either. Try to stay positive :) !
