IH 986 - 1086 Hy Tran question

Recently inherited a 986 and it had a new clutch put in and has no hydraulic fluid - it is now part of an estate sale and I wanted to have it 100% - a couple questions:

1. Can I use Traveler trans/hydraulic ?
2. Do I need to bleed lines or complete any other steps beyond just adding the fluid to specs - ?

Pay the price and use Hy tran and of course a new filter. The system bleeds itself real quick after the tractor is started.

Thank you for the response and info.

We had a 1086 - now an 886 is the only 86 series left here. Do yourself a favor, check tractor data to find the hydraulic capacity, fill it to full, and
then dump in another COMPLETE bucket. Yes, it's an additional 75 bucks but your tractor and you will both like it so much better. It will prime
easier every startup and the fluid stays cooler under field conditions. That last part is just my observation, but when you idle it down when it is
100 degrees outside there is a destinct difference in the machine with those five gallons. I think it is due to thinner and cooler fluid.

I want to say you will need five buckets. Don't be stingy - buy real hytran. The rear ended in a big tractor is too expensive to save a few bucks
on.
