Ford 600 Hydraulic Tube

I have a Ford 600, the high pressure hyd tube has a hole in it or cracked inside the transmission.
I have a couple of questions. 1) How do you get the old tube out? 2) Where do you buy a new tube? 3)How does the tube seal though the holes?
Any general information would be helpful.

From John Smith:By removing the manifold under the pump you'll expose the front end of both tubes. Splitting the tractor behind the transmission (rear split) exposes the back end of both tubes. You don't need to disassemble it any further than that. Whether you replace the leaky tube or braze it or sleeve it, I'd recommend removing it. If you're sleeving it you'll have the tube out on the bench and can get it clean. Just go to the backside of the trans with a flat end punch or a piece of round stock that is just under 1/2" (about .480" is right) and drive the tube out the front side. If you use a driver that is too small you'll never get it out. With the right size they come out easily. It's a press fit but only for an inch, then it will pull out freely. When it goes back in, it slides freely until the last inch when all 3 finished diameters are pressing in at once. You'll have to push a little harder for the last inch (read hammer gently).

If you decide to buy a new tube you can get one from www.link_disallowed for about $65. Part number is NCA 945-B.
Others have tapped the front of tube & threaded a bolt into tube & removed it with a slide-hammer to avoid splitting tractor.

An alternative is a patch: a fix has been to disassemble, completely clean the ID of the tube with carb cleaner.. many times, then to get some 10MM tube ( mcmaster/carr? ) and coat it with epoxy, perhaps even coating the ID of the old tube in an epoxy, and then pushing the tube thru till seated and not protruding, clean up any extruded epoxy, and then allow to cure fully.

Another alternative is to plug existing path & connect an external hose between the side-of-housing test port and a drilled & tapped port on accessory cover.

or whatever reason, my response is not showing in Modern View. To see it, go to Classic View.

I have the same problem in a '63 2000. It must be just a pin hole as I took the lazy route and about once a year I drain the tranny down to the full port and add fluid back to the hyd port. Bought the tractor that way not knowing any better about 20 years ago. Figured I'd tear up more than I fixed as I had no idea what nor how to fix it and splitting the tractor was not something I wanted to do, especially never having done it before and working alone.
