I hope I hear from OLD and thanks for 601 brake help. I bought a 601 workmaster tractor and have it almost "restored" repaired. I have put a lot in this tractor and love doing it. It turns out the tractor is a 801 model 851 with a 601 hood and grille. Since it has a 601 hood I will paint it vermillion red with medium grey rims and grille. I just cannot put any identification on it. I was ordering 601 workmaster decals for it but I feel bad about doing that. It is going to look good with new paint and new tires. Just no identification. Any advice?

Pretty much the only difference in the 601/801 hood was the color of the paint and maybe the up front emblem other wise if I remember right there the same hood just different color. If it where min I'd paint it like the 801 is is. By the way 601 is a series and so is 801 with a number of different models in each series

It's your tractor. Don't let the correct police keep you from doing what you want to do. I've got a Cockshutt that I painted Oliver green and put Oliver decals on. I had plans to paint a John Deere Oliver green with Oliver decals. I even had an Oliver serial tag I was going to put on it and a real good story that I was going to tell about it. I traded it for a real Oliver before I got a chance to do it,but it sure would have been fun to take to shows and see if I could tell a good convincing story about it.

I agree with this. Don't worry about what other people say about what you want to do with your tractor. as long as its safe. besides, it's your tractor,r not theirs.
