135 Massey Ferguson gas

I am thinking about buying a Massey Ferguson 135 with the Perkins gas engine. Does anybody know how long these gas engines last.The tak says it has 2200 hours. The engine seems fine and every thing works well. He wants 3800 for it. How much would it cost to go to a shop and have the engine rebuilt. I am new to the tractor world and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the tractor but look here on this web site they have rebuild kits you just need to know what motor it has but the full rebuild kit depending what engine is no more than 700-800 max some kits depending on engine are about half that. I wish I would have had the foresight to have looked at engine overhaul kits before buying my first tractor. Like I said I don't know the tractor but I don't see you finding a cheaper tractor to maintain engine wise. Transmissions rear-ends brakes could be an issue I just don't know. I would Ask the guys here about any known issues or problems with that model Tractor, that will set your mind at ease or at the very least let you make an informed Decision.
