1965 IH 424 - Lost hydrolics to power steering and 3 point

I have a 1965 IH gas powered model 424 tractor. I was plowing snow a few days when I suddenly lost power steering, and control of my 3 point hitch. I have the owners manual, but about all it indicated was to add fluid. I did that, but still not working. It took about 1.5 gallons of fluid. After filling, I started the tractor but still have no power steering or 3 point control.

Has anyone run into a problem like this?

My first two thoughts would be a clogged suction screen, or something has broken and the pump quit turning.
Screen is 1 in the drawing

I used to have a 3414 Ind. As I recall the hitch reservoir was three gallons. You could have air in the system from low fluid.

have you checked the low pressure feed pipe going to pump as it could be sucking air

Thanks for the comment, I figure to take it slow and eliminate the simplest possible problems first, I have already added fluid, with little change, I want to get the front end off the ground and try to work the air out of the system as my first try.
