Stanadyne Fuel Pump Help!

Hey folks,
I have an ford 4000 tractor. Problem is that on the fuel pump there WAS a small screw/bolt near the Stanadyne label. This seems to have come out or broken and as a result fuel is literally spewing out of where the screw/bolt was. I tried to put a bolt or something to block to flow but it continues. I have looked high and low to try and find out what this screw/bolt is so that i can source another to see if that fixes the issue. Problem is ihavent seen a diagram out there naming it let alone telling me what in the heck its for! Any help guidance is appreciated.

Picture 1 (pump1) - is just a picture of a fuel pump i found that clearly shows where the screw/bolt is.

Picture 2 (pump2) is my actual pump.

Thanks all ! One last question, if i find that its broken off inside (hope not) is that when its time to call in the experts?

Thank you again. Appreciate you!

If it broken - in theory you could carefully slide a new one in as it pushes the old one out without taking the pump apart. I can't say I
was ever in a situation where I had to do it that way - but I cannot think of a reason why it cannot be done.

The shaft is supposed to protrude thru that side and seals w/ an oring and nut.
I don't think you have enough room to push the new one in while pushing the old one out.. but if you did, that's how you would do it..
The shaft has a *sharp* edge on it, 3 sided shaft.. the sharp edge goes IN, towards the inside of the pump.
Good luck and let us know if you need more help.

There is certainly room if the pump is off. Or he could push the new in from the outside and break off pieces of the old one as it came out the other side. What I would NOT do is pull the shaft all the way out without part of the new one shoved in to hold the governor fulcrum arm in place.

Can't thank you all enough! I'll pop back when i get er done and let you know how it went.

Thanks again !!!!

Hi all, back again...

Well i found the part and ordered it and it has been delivered :) My latest question is:

since i have to now install the new governor shaft and tighten the nuts on both ends, it seems the best way is with the pump off. being a novice I'm
a little hesitant to remove the pump, is it ok to try and remove one of the bottom two bolts and loosening the other and turning the pump slightly to
access the back part of the pump where the other nut attaches to the governor shaft? Curious if this will mess up the timing.... again, any
guidance is appreciated.

Turning the pump housing WILL change the timing, that's how it's set. If there's not enough room to remove the broken shaft as the new one goes through you might as well set the timing marks under the side cover, then remove the pump.

Thanks everyone for the help on this one. I've completed the install and have no more leaking fuel pump ! Thanks again for all the pointers and information you all took the time to provide.

Thanks again!
