Hi all,
I've got a John Deere 1010 that I just got running, and the transmission is doing some weird stuff. If in 1st gear or reverse, the transmission makes a tinging noise, once every rotation. It isn't jumpy at all when I drive it, it just makes the tinging noise. It sounds like it's coming from the drive shaft, directly under the PTO activation switch. I also cannot turn the PTO off. Anybody have any idea what could be wrong and how big a repair fixing that would be? Also is it safe to continue using the tractor with that issue?
