If you have an O'Reilly's auto part store or a NAPA auto parts store in your area go buy a set form either place both will have or can get in 24 hours or less. As for a carb kit again O'Reilly's has them Walker brand 778-505A is the part number. As for spark plugs I switch to HGK3112 plug since now days auto lite and champ tend to foul out so much faster with this crap gas we have

Gasoline has been the cleanest burning and the least likely to gum or varnish a fuel system than 30+ years ago.
Get rid of the points and install a Pertronix. Use spiral wound suppression wires. Use non resistor spark plugs. Get the coolant temperature up to 195F so the air/fuel mixture does not have to be so rich.

Tried to buy distributor cap for Cockshutt 550 at O'Riley. They had no listing for any cockshutt. Stopped in at Auto Zone. Complete catalog of all Cockshutt Ignition, oil filters, etc.

Crap gas must be a Missouri thing, I don't have any problem with it and I have Champion spark plugs almost old enough to vote in assorted engines.

Crap gas as in the ethnal stuff. As for your plug well duh think about it they where made in the U.S.A. not China like champs and auto lite's are now made. Use your head those plugs where made back when they did thing right not almost right like now days

Gas with alcohol in it that absorbs water out of the air and leaves it behind when the alcohol evaporates. I have gas cans that the bottom 1/4 or so if I do not use it often enough will be water and for some odd reason water does not burn well in an engine. 15% alcohol is bad but the 85% stuff is even worse if you try to store it for say 6 months or so
