Wiring connections on Farmall 706d,

colahawk

New User
From this site, just purchased a cluster gauge for 706 Farmall diesel. Brother in law had a new rt side wiring harness. All seemed to wrk correctly, but I have no extra wiring to go to the ground. On this is everything grounded thru the bulbs for fuel and temperature?

Colahawk,The grounding could be through the instrument cluster mounting itself. You could if needed add a good ground wire to the cluster panel for a good proper ground and not just the mounting screws.

I wondered about that. I did find similar info on a model 856. I just hated to crank this up not knowing for sure and burn up the loom and he cluster. Would have been nice if the case-ih loom had some instructions. Thanks for the info. really appreciated

just putting the 706 back together and found a loose wire. it is about 18 inches long. has a black female connection head on it and it is connected to the BAT that comes out of the distributor. It was buried under some grass between the frame and the distributor. Looks like it has not been used for years. It was below the light switch on the left side, but there are no lights on the right flat fenders. By chance does this wire attach to another that goes under the platform and hook up to the right side lights. Now unit runs good except wonder where the heck this wire goes. It is about the same gauage as a piece of #9 fence wiring.
Thanks in advance for suggestions
