I have a 674 with a d239 I did finished the
rebuild and now she is hard to start and
when it does I get quite a bit of smoke well
it's fuel out the exhaust any hints on what
it could be faulty injector maybe maybe
valve out of adjustment

Has the timing been checked and reset if needed? How deep are the valves setting in the head, if both valves and seats are ground too much the compression will drop, sometimes enough to effect starting compression heat. Very critical on diesel engines, not so much on gas engines. May want to do a compression test, 325 to 400 is what works well for starting, higher is better. Direct injection diesels will run at 275-300, but won't start well at all.

I will have to check the compression I cant remember off the top of my head what I set the valves at but there all now and well seated new crank cam and everything else so I'll start with compression test and see I thought it might be a bad injector nozzle or injector there not new starts good with a little spray of juice in the in take

Like Dieseltech said, did you have the valve recession checked when you had the head off? And, a rebuilt engine ought to at least have the injectors checked. We usually just have them rebuilt or replace them when I do an engine. I don't want a poor pattern torching a hole in a new piston.

Did you rebuild the injector pump. The only reason I ask is I had mine rebuilt last year and the tractor starts easier especially in cooler weather, like it did when it was new. This is only an observation on my part, I am by no means a expert on diesel engines or injectors or pumps.

I rebuilt the complete engine everything is new other then the block I did have the fuel pump off and may have not set it back right someone told me that my fuel pump might be to dar advanced cuz once I get her started she purrs like a kitten but smokes well fuel out the exhaust
