No power with JD 4020 gas

I have a JD 4020 with gas engine. I recently changed points, condenser, plugs, wires, and coil, and timed the tractor to factory specs. It starts and runs great, but under load (i.e., anything higher than 1st gear) it bogs down.

I have removed the precleaner system and cleaned the crud from it thoroughly. I also rebuilt the Zenith carburetor, which was full of crud and rust.

Any ideas on why the tractor has no power?

Thanks,

#1 point set wrong
#2 bad condenser right out of the box.
#3 plug wire being the wrong type as in made for a car or truck not the solid wire type made for a tractor.
#4 firing order wrong due to changing plug wires
#5 carb set to right or to lean. Does choking ti help or hurt.
#6 engine low on compression
#7 valves not closing like they should and need to have the tappets set

Is the governor fully opening the throttle?

If you start the engine, set the lever for full speed, then over ride the governor down to idle, release the governor, you should see the throttle lever on the carb go to the full open position as the engine comes back up to speed.

Now days you stand 50/50 chance a new condenser will be a bad condenser. Now days I do not replace them since most of them will last decades if not longer. I have not change a condenser in any thing in well over 10 years if not more like 20

Yes, the market for points and condenser is so small now that few quality company's even bother to manufacture them. Trouble right out of the box or short life because of the poor quality and workmanship.
It makes a quality electronic ignition conversion look good, especially if your distributor is suffering from 60 years of wear.
