Good afternoon, have a ford 860 with at Marvel Schebler STX 706 Carberator, I have rebuilt this carb, had it apart 4 times.
Cannot get tractor to fire, get no fuel vaporized, clean everything multiple time, took out vaporizer clean new seal.
Settlings are 1 1/4 out on idle. Been out as little at two turns on the main, to 5 turns on the main. Plenty suction, can get carb to blow fuel out the air intake. No up flow to were it need to be.
Any suggestions on getting this carb primed. Totally beside myself

Thank you
Dan

Is this an LP carb?

A sure test to determine if the problem is lack of fuel is to put some gas in a spray bottle, like a window cleaner bottle, that sprays out atomized. See if it will run temporarily when given a shot of gas.

Do you have a good blue/white spark at the center wire of the distributor cap and at all 4 plug wires tha twill jump a 1/4 inch gap??

#2 if you pull the carb drain plug do you get a steady flow of gas form it tha twill fill a pint jar in under 3 minutes??

#3 with the air cleaner tube off if you hold your hand over the air intake and spin it over do you get a good suction and does your hand get covered with gas

Over the last 18 years I have had the MS carbs on my 960 and 961 apart a few times. I am not familiar with the Vaporizer, vaporizer seal, or fuel vaporizing. Are you sure that your float height is correct? Be advised that if the engine does not fire up in about 1.5 revolutions, when it stops it should have sucked enough gas up into the manifold that it will run right out of the carb intake. What are you getting for a spark plug reading? When not firing but getting gas they should be wet. When rebuilding an engine I had a similar problem due to improper valve timing. I took the rear main seal in and out a few times before I was happy with it, and in the process inadvertently moved the crank with respect to the cam. A little more history about what you are up to would not hurt.

Thanks Steve, it not LP just gas, but I like spray bottle idea
Give the a wirl

Thank you, yes plenty spark, new wires, new plugs and points
Plenty of heat. I have held my hand over the carb, about suck you hand in. Yes it's wet and sometimes you pull away blow gas out
Just don't seem to me it's going north. After have cranked on it,
But my hand over and choked it like crazy, I would take plugs out and dry As a bone.
I have a new rebuild kit coming Friday, I used a partial rebuild kit from a 9N , and the gasget from 9n kit, I think it might be possible I have the wrong gasket , it's a TSX 706 I found out.
Keep you posted, thanks for info

I m hoping I has discovered my own stupidity. I bought a partial rebuild kit for a 9n, I thought interals , gasket were the same,
The Carb is a TSX 706, 1956 860 , the full rebuild kit should be here Friday. Will keep you advised, thank you for helping

I am still curious about the vaporizer and vaporizer seal that you have in there.
