Ford 861 oil leak and slow oil pressure

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and have a question. I have a 1957 Ford 861 gas tractor that has pressurized oil coming out of the hole behind the coil , there should be no oil there also when I start it it takes about 15 seconds for the oil pressure to build to 40 psi. I have cleaned all the breathers and checked the oil level all is good. I have seven of these era Ford tractors all have this hole, and all get used regularly for field mowing of which i do about 150 fields a year so they all get run hard but this one just started leaking the other day. im going to a drop the oil pan and check check for sludge and maby run some carosene through it see if it helps. Hoping somebody made might have an idea thanks

Can't help you much myself but if you go down and post in the Ford specific forum you'll probably get more help from those guys.

I have a 961 but it doesn't have any problems so I couldn't tell ya what to do. ;)

Those engines have 3-4 of those plugs on them, they plug oil galleries that are used only during manufacturing in order to drill oil passages. I had one of my engines rebuilt at a shop and they installed new ones that go in with an Allen wrench. Fiat gets about $25.00 for them. I expect that an automotive machine shop would sell them for about $2.50. So far as the oil pressure I would check that the capillary tube to the gauge is clear.

if your motor is running okay I would not run anything through it. good chance it might start burning oil. inside your motor film builds up on everything. cylinder walls, journal bearings etc. this film does help the cylinder rings seal. if it were mine I wouldn't run anything in it. 40lbs is about right for that motor. plug your leak and run it.
