Looking at a white 2-105 and noticed it was low on hydro and the 3 speed was low, didn't want to shift into over in some gears. Ive heard they are touchy if you run them low on oil. I was wondering
what the 3 speed could cost in repair. Is the 3 speed bad? It leaks some oil, but not sure at what rate is this a deal breaker? motor runs good. I want to pull the trans/gear oil and see if its over full
from the 3 speed leaking by, there is a seal between them right?

There's a seal in the rear, yes. Then there's oil in the Trunion coupler that comes from the trans. I don't know why it wouldn't shift in to overdrive in just some gears. That unit is totally separate from the transmission. It should work,or not work, the same in every gear.
Repair costs would depend entirely on what's wrong. Just some clutches, not much. Tear up the spiders and some other major parts,a lot. I tore up the one in my 2-135 pretty bad a few years ago. That one cost me around $3200. But it was totally tore up and the shavings kept going in to the relief valve so the low pressure light stayed on.
