Ford 8N Throwout Bearing Carrier Removal

Hello all,

Does anyone have a practical method for removing the carrier from the center of the throw out bearing on a 1952 Ford 8N? It looks to be pressed in there. I thought about using a big socket to tap it out, or possibly reversing the jaws on a gear puller to coax it off. Anyone have a thought if either of these options will work or if they should not be attempted for any reason. Thanks friends!

Haha, thanks! I assumed it was really presses in there, but it came apart pretty easy, the new one went on even easier. I should have tried that first, i feel a little dumb :? Thanks again!

Glad that worked for you!

Sometimes things ARE easier than they look!

Only the back bearing race is a light press fit, and it doesn't have to move very far to come off freely.
