Need Help withn John Deere 4010
Turns out my Hydrolic fluiden ran low. I then experienced a shifter problem. The notched sleves that are visable inside the shift console seem to have shifted. I can now only access the second tier gears. That is 2, 4 and R. Im wondering if the low level of Hydro oil contributed to this and how to fix. Or is it a separate issue.

Thanks

Your shift troubles are a separate issue. Take the dash cowling off. The look at the shifter. There is a latch (#6) that keeps the drums from moving with each other. These latches break or the bolt/shaft (#23) that holds the drums together becomes lose and allow the drums to pass by the latch. There is also a snap ring (#24) on the bolt/shaft that can come off and allow the drums to separate.

The latch is moved when you move the gear shift sideways to going into different ranges. You can see the slots in the sides of the shifter drums that this latch goes into.
