I am continuing to work on my 1943 A. Now that it runs(new coil and condenser in the magneto) and charges ( got everything adjust right with the fan and belts) I am proceeding with new plugs, wires and points. At the present it has Champion D-16 plugs. Everyone around here is using Autolite because they are better(????)
So what is the preferred plug (Make and heat range). I want to see this tractor run like a top. Thanks Henry

Best heat range will depend on your use. For parades and other no load operations you will have the best life and engine operations out of the hotest plug you can find that will screw in the hole. I used to be an advocate of Auto lite but starting having bad luck with them seveal years ago. Actally at this point and time I watch for old stock plugs on Ebay and snatched them up.when they sell in my price range and my old tractors couldn't be happier.

If its the later 18 mm plugs and ESPECIALLY since its a Magneto, Id use NON Resistor Autolite 3116. That's in the approximate heat range of the resistor plugs Autolite 386 or hotter 388. If its the old style 7/8 plugs Id use the deep reach side wire electrode hotter Autolite 3077.

D16 's are too cold in most every tractor application. Move up to D18 or D21 if you aren't going to work it hard...
