Ford 9N Axle Bearings - Tapered VS Flat Roller advice please

Hello all,

I am in the middle of replacing my axle seals / bearings on my 1952 8N / 9N frankentractor. My tractor is an 8N except for the axle trumpets, axles, rims, hubs and brakes, they are off a 9N. We removed the old axle seal and noticed that it looks like the tapered bearing is one of the reasons the seal becomes compromised. I am thinking of switching the bearing from the original tapered type to a flat roller style bearing. Has anyone else attempted this? Does anyone know of any reason why it couldn't be done? Any info would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks all!!!
