2 bolts have rounded/corroded off heads on my exhaust manifold on my 73 2000 Ford. I was going to weld on two nuts. the other 4 bolts came right out..I just don;t have anything to grip them with.

Will this hurt the bearings in my engine?

What should I ground it to?

No, won't hurt the bearings as long as you don't ground it to the crankshaft! Or any moving part as far as that is concerned...

If you have the exhaust pipe off, clamp directly to the end of the manifold. Probably help to knock some of the rust off.

I had to do the same thing on a broken bolt in a steering knuckle. Took me 3 tries, but was finally successful in backing out the remnants of the bolt. follow Steve's advice and you'll be fine.

I actually lucked out..took a cut off wheel to the bolt heads, slid off the manifold and took visegrips and unscrewed the rest of the bolts-they came out easy of course I soaked them PB Blaster for 2 weeks.
