Hi , I have an older Gravely Promaster zero turn mower. The pto clutch the front bearing went out so I replaced it. When trying to cut grass the clutch started smoking. When looking that bearing went so I replaced it then that clutch started smoking again. So looking at it I saw the clutch was wore out so I replaced the clutch and the bearing. Tried it and again the clutch started smoking. I think the bearing is ok but not sure whats going on. Any ideas what to check. Thanks

Check the voltage at the clutch with it engaged. Should be near battery voltage, 12.5 - 13.5, somewhere in that range.

If the charging system is not working, of there is a voltage drop due to a high resistance in the switch or a bad connection, bad ground, the magnet won't pull hard enough and let it slip.

Also be sure all the blade spindles and idlers are turning free, nothing binding the belt(s).

Sorry I guess I should have mentioned its not an electric pto it has a lever you push forward to engage the pto. But thanks for the reply
