MF 30 Starter only clicks, can be pushed out

Hello, this seems like a great forum...
We have a Massey Ferguson 30, recently we got a starter problem
The starter only clicks when key is turned. So we disconnected the starter and tested with cables right on to it. For best description of the problem, look at the video. When removing the spring on the solenoid (think it's called that) and pushing the solenoid out manually, it will start, but not otherwise.

For some reason the solenoid thing seem to not have the strength to push out with the spring on.
Expertise thoughts on this??
There seem to be no way I can post the link to the video, I can't even write the name on that place without getting an error, so please, if you can look up the video id on you know the place, qKe3e92M6fo or the title on the video is "MFStarter"
Sorry about link problem

Sounds like the electromagnet part of the solenoid has gone bad which does happen at times. When you hit the starter button or switch a electric magnet pulls the plunger part and that engages the bendex into the flywheel. which in turn pushes on a button sort of thing in the solenoid that sends power to the starter it self. So if the magnet part of the solenoid has gone bad you get a no start

Thanks for quick and thorough reply! I guess that would be tough to fix, guess we need to be lucky and try to find another starter

Most solenoids like that have to screw/bolts holding them on and then the part to the starter it self. Then on most a simple twist of 90 degrees and you can pull the solenoid off and then go buy a new one and install it in reverse order of taking it off.

That is a strange looking starter! Not anything I've ever seen, and not the type old thought it was either.

Evidently the solenoid (the magnetic coil that pulls the drive gear out and closes the contacts) is inside the starter case.

You can open it up, take a look inside, see if anything looks abnormal. If nothing looks obviously wrong, try a good cleaning and reassemble it, see if it will work. If not, find a starter/generator/alternator shop near you. They can repair it for much less than buying a rebuilt one or a new aftermarket. The new aftermarket will be of questionable quality.
