JD 4010 hood ornament?

So I bought a pretty decent 4010 diesel/standard tractor a few weeks ago. Been working it some and it runs great(unless it runs out of fuel!)

Anyhow...I like it enough to buy some trim pieces for it to replace damaged/missing parts. Bought a new chrome hood ornament(genuine JD piece)...and it ain't going to fit unless I drill a new hole for the rear screw... :(

I watched the parts guy look it up and it looks like what I need...however the screw holes in my hood are about 1/2" further apart than the holes in my new ornament...

So what's the deal with my 1961 hood holes not lining-up with my new 2016 hood ornament?

Wrong part?...Is the right part available?...Drill new hole and go?

A little bit of research on the JD parts numbers tells the tale. Apparently the 4010 tractor had it's own type chrome hood ornament. It was about 1/2" longer than the newer 4020 ornament and had different screw hole-spacing. Otherwise the ornaments look about the same.

Seems that the newer style hood ornaments fit several models of tractors and this is the one that aftermarket and Deere continue to offer to 'fit' the JD4010.

Marked and drilled a new back hole for my new ornament and it fits fine...covers the old hole too
