I have a 420 with the tag serial no 85293 model 420T I understand this is a 1956 tractor tricycle type but it has a wide front end. Can any one explain why a T model has a wide front end ? My dad purchased it as is in 1960.

Just means some one installed wide front on what at one time was a trike front

They actually came with 2 widths of wide fronts as an option. I had one at one time.

Because the T tractor could have a single front , two narrow or two wide adjustable wide fronts .
Free parts book on the JD web site lists all the variations .
