why did i fail to fit new 600x16 tyres on new centres

I have just failed to fit new 600x16 tyres on new wheel centres ..I put washing up liquid on tyres to help fit but no success.. what did I do wrong???

I think that you are trying to put the tires on what I would call rims. It is hard to know what you are doing wrong without knowing what you have been doing, but I know that the last part to go over is tough, and it will tend to slip back on one side while you are trying to bring the other over. Clamping vise grips onto the rim can help to hold the bead in place.

When you get half the bead over the rim then you have to step on it so the bead is on the smaller center, then use a tire iron and work the rest of the bead bit by bit over the edge.
Soap can be a hindrance cause a slippery and less flexible tire is hard to keep in place and has the tendency to slide back of the rim edge when you re-position the tire iron
