No spark, engine cranks over not problem hmmmm???

I want to thank everyone that commented on which way to count cylinders. It was very helpful. I have another question for those that know a whole lot more about tractors than I do. I haven't any spark still. I have a new drive shaft gear, turning the new rotobutton finally. New condenser, points(set @ .020), new spark plugs and wires, new wire from ignition switch to starter(solenoid) and new wire from solenoid to resistor and everything hooked up properly, but still no spark. Any information would be very helpful.

Always good to include what tractor your working on since many of us help others on and off all the time so we can not always remember what you have.
With the cap and dust cover off turn on nthe ignition and carefully open the points by hand. You should both see and hear a spark when you do so. I no spark then points are dirty or you have a short some place/
Next turn the engine over just enough to make the points stay open. Do not turn on the ignition but run a wire form the ignition side of the battery to the coil. Touch it to the coil and watch for a spark. Ignition side that is. If you get a spark with the points open you have a short some place and that needs to be fixed to be able to get spark at the plugs

Your "new wire from ignition switch to starter(solenoid)" should probably be going to the resistor, then on to the coil.

If it has a "starting bypass", the wire from the "R" (or "I") terminal on the solenoid would go the the coil side of the resistor.
