JD 4020 LP restoration

I'm getting my grandfathers old jd4020. It's sat up around 3 years when he passed he was working on it. The steering was creeping on it. You had to constantly turn the wheel to make it go straight until the steering was locked out. He passed before he could get it fixed and backed together. It's tore down right now and I don't know a whole lot about it but just wondering if anyone has suggestions before I tear into it. How do I need to go about trying to get it running? New tank of propane? New battery? Etc

If you have LP in the tank it will be fine. You should either replace the points and cond. or run a piece of fine sandpaper or even a business card through the points to remove any oxidation that might have happened.
