F20 oil leak

I have a 1936 F20. This tractor was bought new by my grandparents. I got it out and got it running but there is an oil leak around the PTO shaft and another around drive shaft. Behind the notched nut on each is there packing of some kind? I have tightened each one notch but it hasn't helped. Can I get these leaks stopped?

Yes, there is a felt packing strip in there that seals the oil. You could try to find that new felt stuff, or you could do like I've done on my F-20's and replaced them with the appropriate sized oil seals from the local auto parts dealer. Measure the shaft diameter, the outer diameter the oil seal will need to be, and the necessary thickness.
