question about whining hydraulics

I own a 1975 Ford 5550 backhoe....it's a four stick...I blew a short hose under the seat that feeds the manifold for the four stick hydraulics....after replacing it it functions fine now but it whines loudly similar to the whining a car makes that is low on power steering fluid...I think there is air in the lines but not sure...we tried working it through the system w repetitive cycles of the hydraulics but that didn't work...we also tried bleeding it w the bleeder valve on the manifold but no luck....any thoughts?

As long as the level is where it's supposed to be, the air will eventually work it's way out. The air is in suspension in the oil, and as long as the pump is running it will stay in suspension. The more it sits the more it will clear up.

Some times a clogged suction strainer (if equipped) will cause the oil to cavitate, and a leak in the suction line will cause the pump to suck air. But if it was working before, it should clear up.

OK thanks Steve.... I appreciate the input....I'm new to these machines.... now I'm addicted... I've got the 75 Ford backhoe, a 1975 GMC Sierra dump truck, and a 1989 case skid steer...and I'm far from finished.....not only do they get a ton of work done...they're a helluva lot of fun
